Activision Blizzard answers 'Call of Duty' with big 4QBy Fred Ferguson Feb 11, 2017
However, sales underperformed our expectations, and it's clear that for a portion of our audience, the space setting just didn't resonate. All they said about Call of Duty 2017 is that it will be going "back to its roots".
The latest entry in the series, "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was met with an awfully bad reception and despite having millions of loyal fans, a huge percentage of them are just getting too exhausted of the franchise's direction. According to Game Spot, Tippl did not reveal anything else about the upcoming title but did mention his disappointment over "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare".
While Call of Duty is still Activision's best-known brand, Blizzard's new hit Overwatch more than compensated for the shortfall, with Bobby Kotick, group chief executive, hailing it as a "major new franchise".
Meanwhile, Infinite Warfare and its pack-in game, Modern Warfare Remastered, are nowhere to be found. Certainly, with Battlefield 1 returning to the 20th century, it wouldn't surprise anyone to see Call of Duty return to the historical bandwagon. In December 2016, it was reported that the game had sold significantly less copies than its immediate predecessor, Black Ops III.
So, what is Activision Blizzard to do in order to right the ship? This is where the first three titles were set, as well as Treyarch's Modern Warfare follow-up, World at War.

Benjamin Netanyahu to urge Theresa May to form 'common front' against Iran
Mr Netanyahu has long made clear he regards it as a bad deal which will do nothing to halt Tehran's nuclear ambitions. May is expected to criticize the widespread Israeli settlement construction during the meeting with Netanyahu.
This could be the reason why the 2017 "Call of Duty" game will be different.
The decision to bring back Call of Duty back to its roots seems to be Activision's way of responding to that.
Yesterday, Activision announced that they're taking a break from Call of Duty. Finally, the digital card game Hearthstone reached a new milestone in active monthly users for the year. Be that as it may, it's most likely a fact that Infinite Warfare is polarizing among in-your-face fans.
The Call of Duty series started out with a focus on World War II, but when audiences grew exhausted of that setting, the action was moved to the modern era. The game has been in development for roughly two years and we should get our first glimpse of what to expect sometime this spring.
"Unfortunately the multiplayer is a bit of a let down", we wrote.
