In Israel Visit New York Gov. Cuomo condemns anti-Semitic attacks

Gov. Andrew Cuomo of NY visits a missile battery site in southern Israel, Aug. 14, 2014.

"We're going to fortify the bonds between NY and the State of Israel, and NY and the Jewish community".

The United States should "never" change as an "island of safety" for Jews, said Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.

"To the people of Israel, I say that these acts of anti-Semitism will not be tolerated", he added.

The governor flew out Saturday afternoon and will arrive in Israel Sunday morning in the company of five staffers and a handful of Jewish leaders from NY, including Allen Fagin of the Orthodox Union, who introduced the governor Wednesday at the event at The Egg where Cuomo announced the trip.

The commission plans to organize a business summit to promote investment, roadshows for Israeli businesses to explore the state and industry-specific roundtables to "advance research".

Cooks' agents also represent Marcus Mariota and Carson Wentz , who are the quarterbacks of the two aforementioned teams. Even rarer are trades that involve sending away very high draft picks in exchange for a player.

Banksy latest Palestine venture? The 'Walled Off Hotel' in Bethlehem
Images are beginning to circulate across the internet, and the hotel is reportedly opening for bookings at the end of the month. Housed in a former pottery workshop, the hotel sets a dystopic colonial theme, with luxurious, if bullet-scarred, fixtures.

James Andrews about sore arm (sorry, Yankees fans)
Boston has Price under contract for six more seasons on the mammoth seven-year, $217 million deal he signed before last season. It's possible Price will pitch again later this month instead of having his Red Sox tenure altered with a Tommy John surgery.

Rivlin also noted the Muslims standing against anti-Semitism in America.

Rivlin thanked Cuomo for his solidarity visit, saying that it is "an extremely important signal that the U.S. people and government will not let antisemitism win".

Cuomo's office said his brief visit would include meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan.

"With the recent rise of anti-Semitism, it is more important than ever before to demonstrate the connection between NY and Israel, our intertwined histories and our common futures, and spearhead new economic partnerships to bring our communities closer together", he said.

Cuomo's one-day trip included visits at the Western Wall and Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust memorial.

"This trip has two purposes; number one, while some would weaken the relationship between the people of the State of NY and our Jewish brothers and sisters, the goal of this trip is to strengthen those relationships through cultural exchange, through economic development partnerships, and we'll be working on them", he said.
