Inches of snow and blizzard like conditions are expected to hit many states in the Northeastern part of the country on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The snow forecast for New York City has been downgraded to four to eight inches, but six inches of slush and ice coat the runways at LaGuardia, and up to two feet are still expected in New England. An additional 650 flights have been cancelled for Wednesday, a number that FlightAware expects to rise as the airlines scramble to resume operations. The airline issued travel alerts for 40 airports, including its hubs in Charlotte, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Of the remaining counties, all but Cape May will be under a winter storm warning from Monday evening through most of Tuesday.
